Suffolk — Kennedy to visit wastewater plant
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be in Suffolk Thursday to laud Hampton Roads Sanitation District’s upgrade of a wastewater treatment plant.
HRSD installed a system that enables it to recover phosphorus from sewage pipes and turn it into commercial fertilizer, according to HRSD general manager Ted Henefin. Kennedy, an environmental advocate, sits of the board of directors of Ostara, the company that designed the system. The event, to be held at 11:30 a.m. at HRSD’s Nansemond River Treatment Plant on Armstead Road, is not open to the public.
