Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Cebul has 15 years of experience building and investing in organizations to scale sustainable solutions in agriculture and energy markets. He joins Ostara from Grosvenor Food & AgTech (formerly known as Wheatsheaf Group) where he supported Grosvenor’s expansion into the U.S.. Prior to Grosvenor, he was a founding member of a sustainable farmland investment and management firm, SLM Partners’ North American grains fund. As Director of Investments and Asset Management, he worked with family farms throughout the Midwest to help them expand sustainably, overseeing all farmland acquisitions and management. Prior to SLM, he helped build and run the investment advisory arm of The Cleantech Group. There he supported Fortune 500 companies to make both direct VC investments as well as fund investments in sustainable energy and agriculture startups.
Kerry earned his Business degree from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and BA. from Middlebury, where he majored in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Conservation Biology.
AHREN BRITTON, M.A.Sc., P.Eng.
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Britton has over 17 years of experience in environmental engineering, with a focus on the wastewater treatment industry. He is a co-inventor of Ostara’s technology and developed the first prototype during his research at the University of British Columbia. His professional experience includes roles in engineering consulting, municipal utilities and heavy industry both in North America and in Australasia.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. DeBerry has more than 20 years of experience managing and helping to increase efficiencies at large operations. Before arriving at Ostara in 2013, he was General Manager at the Fairmont facility at Resolute Forest Products for eight years. Prior to that, he ran his own gas and oil drilling services business for four years, DeBerry Enterprises, Inc. Mr. DeBerry is a graduate of Fairmont State College with a Bachelor of Science in Safety Engineering Technology.
TERRI WEST, CPA, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. West has over 15 years of experience leading finance and accounting organizations. She is responsible for all of Ostara’s financial functions, including accounting, audit, treasury, corporate finance and investor relations.
Prior to joining Ostara, Ms. West served as Chief Financial Officer for Actagro, a soil and plant health specialty inputs business, successfully leading the company through exceptional growth resulting in a sale of the company to a private equity investor in 2011; and a subsequent sale to a strategic buyer in 2019. She has served in various roles leading operations, human resources, business development, and information technology, as well as providing consulting services for a broad range of clients with large, complex agribusinesses.
Ms. West is currently an outside director on two boards, serving as audit committee chair for an agriculture cooperative lending institution and chairperson for a large privately-held vegetable farming, cooling, and distribution business.
Ms. West has a B.B.A. in Marketing from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from California State University, Fresno. She is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Washington.
RON RESTUM, BBA
Chief Commercial Officer
Mr. Restum is a 40-year veteran of the agriculture industry, with extensive experience in agricultural inputs, especially specialty fertilizer, micronutrients, nitrogen stabilizers, and biological products. Working for Agrium (Nutrien) for over 30 years in all three business units: retail, wholesale, and specialty fertilizer products, he managed operations and led sales of their North American agricultural specialty fertilizer and micronutrient product portfolios. In 2013 Mr. Restum transitioned to Koch Agronomic Services as Vice President, Sales North America where he directed sales for the company’s nitrogen stabilizer and specialty fertilizer portfolio. Mr. Restum also spent 3 years leading the global commercial efforts with a leader in the agricultural biostimulant market. Mr. Restum is a Certified Crop Advisor and received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University. Mr. Restum is a past chair of the Michigan Agri-Business Association and a charter member of the Micronutrient Manufacturers Assn.
Vice President, Projects
Mr. Dharas has over 30 years of extensive engineering experience in the design, development, management and commissioning of industrial plants. His professional experience includes the management of design teams as well as external engineering and contracting companies. While at Ostara, Mr. Dharas has provided oversight of the design, construction and commissioning of multiple Nutrient Recovery facilities in North America and Europe. Prior to joining Ostara, Mr. Dharas held management positions with Greenway Automation Ltd, Brainium Technologies Inc, and Proton International Engineering Corp, of which he was a co-founder.
MATTHEW KUZMA, BAS
Vice President, Nutrient Recovery Solutions
Mr. Kuzma has more than 20 years of water and wastewater management experience ranging from large multinational corporations to venture capital funded technology start-ups, including five years with Ostara as Managing Director, Nutrient Recovery. Prior to re-joining Ostara as Vice President, Nutrient Recovery Solutions, Matt held management positions with Anaergia, Organica Water, and US Filter/Siemens Water Technologies (now Evoqua). With specific expertise in nutrient recovery, anaerobic digestion, biological treatment of industrial and municipal wastewater, and membrane separation processes for water and wastewater, Mr. Kuzma is a seasoned expert in sustainable resource recovery solutions. Mr. Kuzma is a professional engineer and holds a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Engineering from Miami University. Mr. Kuzma is also an active member of several industry organizations including International Water Association, Water Environment Federation, Water Environment Research Foundation, National Association of Clean Water Agencies, and the California Water Environment Association.
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Baylor brings more than 20 years of fertilizer operations experience to Ostara. Leading teams at The Mosaic Company, Cargill, and most recently, as Global Fertilizer Marketing Manager for ArrMaz. Mr. Baylor has successfully led and managed innovative operations, business processes, and go-to-market strategies globally, capitalizing on emerging market trends with increased earnings growth. Formally trained as a Six Sigma Black Belt, and as an instructor for Green Belt training courses, Mr. Baylor also holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
